Girl Friday consists of five individuals... plus a DH... who, in addition to being all seasoned musicians, happen to love being with one another to make music. There is Gina Despres, a baby boomer, who has been singing in nightclubs and for private functions ever since she realized it was fun to do. There is Mark Gidley, rhythm guitarist and founder of Girl Friday--also another baby boomer--who was magically, musically transformed when he witnessed the Fab Four on the Ed Sullivan Show back in the early sixties. Meeting Uncle Charlie (LENNON!) and Denny Laine in Liverpool, and watching GIRL play both the CAVERN and the Adelphi Hotel, in 1989, was simultaneously the culmination of one lifelong dream and beginning of another. Steve Mueller, the bass player, knows how to play the conventional four string bass, and even stand up bass, but rose to the occasion when, for Girl Friday, he ventured into mastering the five string bass guitar. He, along with perfectionist drummer, George Wilson, provide a rock solid bottom component to the overall signature sound that is Girl Friday. Finally, Mike Dandrea adds lead guitar to the band as an awesome new addition to the lineup. We invite you to dance and listen to the popular songs you cherish from the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties, and beyond while Girl Friday takes you along for the happy and memorable ride.
